Every year the “Leipziger Buchmesse” (Leipzig book fair) takes place and lots of book lovers, manga fans, authors and publishers are teeming around the big area of the new fair in Leipzig. Since I was 14 years old I visited the fair so it became a tradition to go there. The fair is mostly linked to my childhood because at this age I started reading mangas and became a part of the japanese world (you must know that hall 2 at the fair is the most famous one because you can find the whole japanese stuff here).
These japanese graphic novels accompanied me for a long time and I love to see the people dressed up like their favorite manga protagonists. Yes, there are lots of cosplayers at the book fair and I am one of them. Last year I was a Gothic Lolita because I do really love the Alice in Wonderland theme. In Japan they are crazy for Alice in Wonderland so there are lots of different adaptions of the story by Lewis Carroll. A lot of girls like to play the Alice-role and have lots of masquerade possibilities but mainly there are two motives: Either you can dress up with bright colored dress (which look a lot like doll-dresses) including ribbons, animal patterns and so on or you can choose the counterpart and dress up with dark elements. (Gothic) Lolitas are similar to the Harajuku Girls, Gwen Stefani once made popular when she released her album Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
Jedes Jahr findet aufs Neue die Leipziger Buchmesse statt und Buchliebhaber, Manga Fans, Autoren und Verlage wuseln aufgeregt durch das große Messe-Areal in Leipzig. Ich besuche die Messe seit ich 14 bin, so dass es mittlerweile zur Tradition geworden ist. Diese Messe verbinde ich vor allem mit meiner Kindheit, da ich etwa in diesem Alter begonnen habe Mangas zu lesen und in die japanische Welt abzutauchen (Ihr müsst wissen, dass Halle 2 so ungefähr die Berühmteste ist, weil sich hier die japanischen Sachen quasi türmen.)
Diese japanischen Graphic Novels haben mich lange begleitet und ich liebe es zu sehen, wie sich andere Fans als ihre Lieblingsfiguren verkleiden. Ja, es gibt unzählige Cosplayer auf der Buchmesse und ich bin eine davon. Letztes Jahr ging ich als Gothic Lolita, weil ich die Thematik der Alice im Wunderland sehr liebe. In Japan sind sie verrückt nach Alice im Wunderland, darum gibt es eine Menge Adaptionen der Geschichte von Lewis Carroll. Viele Mädchen mögen es in die Rolle der Alice zu schlüpfen und haben dafür diverse Möglichkeiten. Hauptsächlich sind aber zwei Motive vertreten: Entweder man kleidet sich süß mit rosa, weißen oder blauen Kleidchen (die Puppenkleidern wahnsinnig ähneln) inklusive Schleifchen, Tiermotiven usw. oder man sucht sich den Counterpart und kleidet sich dunkel mit schwarzen Elementen. (Gothic) Lolitas sind dabei den Harajuku Girls sehr ähnlich, die Gwen Stefani einst durch ihr Album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. berühmt gemacht hat.

Ich habe mir “Dolls-Eyes” gemacht (wie gesehen auf dem Moschino Catwalk für Frühjahr/Sommer 2013) und habe ihnen durch die gemalten unteren Wimpern einen “Twiggy”-Touch verliehen.

Not only visiting the book fair but also getting a special stuff animal became an important tradition for me. This year my accomplishment had been the blue elephant from the series of characters made by San-X “Sentimental Circus”. His name is Mouton (french for sheep).
Nicht nur der Besuch der Buchmesse ist eine Tradition geworden, sondern auch besondere Plüschtiere mitzunehmen. Meine diesjährige Errungenschaft ist dieser blaue Elefant eine Figurenkonstellation von San-X “Sentimental Circus”. Sein Name lautet Mouton (was französisch Schaf bedeutet).
