Alle guten Dinge neigen sich irgendwann dem Ende oder man soll gehen, wenn es am schönsten ist. Heute lest ihr meinen letzten Post über Wien. Ich bin traurig und glücklich zugleich. Warum? Weil ich so viele wundervolle Erinnerungen mitgenommen habe und jetzt schon weiß, dass ich diese Stadt erneut besuchen werde.
All good things come to an end: Today is my last post about beautiful Vienna. I’m sad and happy at the same time. Why? Because I kept lots of wonderful memories and I already know that I will surely come back to visit this city again.
Schloss Schönbrunn oder wieso ich „Sissi“ nicht sofort mochte
Was und wo: Am letzten Tag in Wien schauten wir uns Schloss Schönbrunn in der Schönbrunner Schloßstraße an. Das hiesige Anwesen umfasst eine üppige Gartenlandschaft, einen Tiergarten, ein Palmenhaus und die größte und damit bekannteste Gloriette Wiens. Der Park war sehr beeindruckend – so wie eigentlich alles hier in dieser Stadt – und die Pflanzenalleen hatten es mir besonders angetan.
Innerhalb: Nicht zu glauben? Im Schloss Schönbrunn befinden sich 1.441 Räumlichkeiten in verschiedenen Größen. Die Teile, die nicht zum Museum gehören werden als Wohnungen sogar an Privatpersonen vermietet. Der Raum, der mich am meisten faszinierte war das Vieux-Lacque-Zimmer. Vom Boden bis zur Decke ist alles aus Nussholz vertäfelt. Dazwischen befinden sich schwarze Lacktafeln aus Beijing, die mit vergoldeten Rokoko-Rahmen versehen sind. Dazu gibt es leider kein Foto, da Innenaufnahme strengstens untersagt sind.
Schönbrunn castle or why I did not like “Sissi” at first
What and where: On the last day in Vienna we went to see the Schönbrunn Castle in the Schönbrunner Schlossstrasse. The imperial property is huge and includes a garden big enough to spend half a day just going for a romantic walk, discovering a little zoo, the exotic palm house and, of course, the largest and well known Gloriette in Vienna. The park was really impressive – like actually everything in this city – and I loved the avenues of plants so endlessly much.
Inside: Can you believe it? Schönbrunn Castle has 1,441 rooms in different sizes. The parts, which don’t belong to the museum are rented as apartments to private individuals. The room which made the most impression on me was the Vieux Laque room. From floor to ceiling everything is made of walnut wood and within there are black lacquer panels from Beijing, which are framed in Gold. I couldn’t take a picture inwards as photos are strictly forbidden there.
Sissi – Elisabeth von Österreich-Ungarn
Das Gebäude war zeitlebens dank seiner Bewohner überaus berühmt. Sissi, Ehefrau und Cousine von Franz Joseph I war sehr beliebt und geliebt vom österreichischen Volk. Ok, sie war auch magersüchtig, aber für diese Zeitalter bereits sehr modern und fortschrittlich. Und obwohl Franz sie vergötterte, verließ sie ihn und ihre Kinder für Reisen zur griechischen Insel Korfu und zu anderen Zielen und tauchte äußerst selten bei den Dinnern und Veranstaltungen an Hofe auf.
Wie konnte Sie nur – dachte ich zuerst, aber dann änderte ich meine Ansicht. Denn heute wäre sie vielleicht eine Feministin, die emanzipiert und frei lebt. Sie ignorierte die damaligen Konventionen und lebte glücklich bis ein italienischer Attentäter sie schließlich im Alter von 61 umbrachte.
Sissi – Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary
The building became famous mainly thanks to its inhabitants. Sissi, wife and cousin of Emperor Franz Joseph I, was very popular and loved by the Austrian public. Ok, she was anorexic but for this age she was really modern and fast-forward. And although Franz adored her she left him and her kids for trips to the Greek island Corfu and other destinations and showed up really rarely at dinners and events in the castle.
How could she – I thought at the beginning but then I changed my opinion. Today she would have been a feminist maybe living independently and freely. She ignored conventions back these days and lived her own life happily until she was murdered by an Italian assassin with the age of 61.
Hallo Libes! Dein Blog ist so schön! Du machst es klasse!!! Ich war schon zwei mal in Wien und ich finde, die Stadt ist mega schön. Letztes Mal habe ich mehr die Umgebung erkundigt: die Seegrotte und Burg Liechtenstein.

Ich war erst einmal in Wien und fand es super schön. Wir waren mitten im Winter dort und Schönbrunn im Schnee war wirklich zauberhaft.
Mit Sissi kann ich mich nicht so ganz anfreunden, auf mich wirkt sie eher sehr oberflächlich. Ich dachte eigentlich auch, dass sie viel jünger gestorben sei. Aber es gibt wohl nur Bilder mit der jungen Sissi, weil sie sich später nicht mehr porträtieren lassen hat.
Aber Wien ist definitiv eine Reise wert!
