Endlich kann ich nach längerer Zeit von meinem zweiten Tag in Wien berichten. Wie ihr im vorherigen Post schon gelesen habt, wurde der Urlaub leider von einem Sturmtief begleitet, daher schüttete es auch an diesem Tag nicht zu knapp. Das machte uns jedoch nichts aus, denn mit Gummistiefeln und meiner neuen Lieblingsjacke von Khujo bewaffnet ging es zuerst zu in die innere Stadt zum Stephansdom.
Finally – after such a long time – I can report about my second day in beautiful Vienna. Like you’ve seen in my recent post here, it was really stormy during our stay. No wonder it rained a lot – but we didn’t care – wrapped in my new lovely winter coat by Khujo and with rain boots we headed to the “inner city” and to the “Stephansdom”.
Domkirche St. Stephan zu Wien und der Südturm
Am Wiener Stephansplatz gelegen ist der Stephansdom seit 1365 das Wahrzeichen der österreichischen Stadt und eines der wichtigsten gotischen Bauwerke Wiens. 107 Meter breit und 54 Meter lang wird er außerdem von insgesamt vier Türmen flankiert – der höchste ist der Südturm mit 136,4 Metern. Diesen haben wir tatsächlich erklommen. Mehr als 300 Stufen legten wir dafür zurück, um am Ende eine wirklich schöne Aussicht zu genießen: Vor allem die Regentropfen an den Fenstern haben etwas sehr malerisches. Perfekt für diese Stadt.
Cathedral of St. Stephan to Vienna and the South Tower
Located on the “Wiener Stephansplatz” the Stephansdom is a landmark of the Austrian city and one of the most important Gothic buildings in Vienna since 1365. 107 meters long and 54 meters wide it’s surrounded by four towers – the South Tower is the highest with 136.4 meters. And yes, we climbed up this mountain :D We took more than 300 steps to enjoy a really nice view at the end: Especially the rain drops on the window have something picturesque. Absolutely perfect for this city.
Mozarthaus und Museum Albertina
Gleich neben der Kathedrale liegt in der Domgasse 5 die Mozartwohnung, in dem Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart drei Jahre lang von 1784 bis 1787, während seines Aufenthalts in Wien, wohnte. Drei Stockwerke mussten wir durchlaufen bevor wir ins hiesige Apartment im erste Stock kamen, in dem angeblich der Schlafbereich Mozarts mit pompösen Fliesen an den Wänden geschmückt war.
Liebe auf den ersten Blick: Am Albertinaplatz 1 liegt das Museum Albertina, welches mich persönlich einfach nur begeisterte! Die Ausstellung „Monet bis Picasso. Die Sammlung Batliner“ war für mich als Verehrerin Monets ein weiterer Schritt, schlussendlich all seine Werke gesehen zu haben.
Mozarthaus and Museum Albertina
Right next to the cathedral at “Domgasse 5” you can find the Mozart apartment where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived for three years from 1784 to 1787 during his stay in Vienna. We had to pass three floors before reaching the first floor, where Mozart’s sleeping area was supposedly decorated with pompous tiles on the walls.
It was love at first sight: The magnificent architecture of the building of the Museum Albertina at the “Albertinaplatz 1” and its current exhibition “Monet to Picasso. The Batliner Collection” was simply amazing. I’m a huge admirer of Claude Monet and to getting to see all of his works was another step for me.
I love this city and Albertina Museum is very interesting!

Der Ausblick ist wirklich toll – dafür haben sich die 300 Stufen auf jeden Fall total gelohnt. Ich finds ja auch immer toll, wenn man sich in Städte von oben anschauen kann. Da hat man nochmal einen ganz anderen Blick auf die Stadt. Schade nur, dass es soviel geregnet hat.

Wien ist und bleibt eine der schönsten Städte der Welt, ich mag einfach wie sich Klassik und Modere vereinen und obwohl ich sogar selbst schon 3 Jahre in Wien gelebt habe, habe ich es noch nie auf den Stephansdom geschafft, da hast du mir etwas voraus.
