Today I was on the Eiffel tower, which is 324 meters high and was built between 1887 and 1889 as entrance portal for the world exhibition. This universal exhibition took place on the occasion of one hundred years of the French Revolution.
It was amazing being there and we had great weather. The view out of the Eiffel tower was really impressive (please have a look at the panorama!) because you could see almost the whole city.
Beside the Eiffel tower we went to the Cathedral Notre Dame, which inspired the french author Victor Hugo for his famous novel “Notre Dame de Paris” and lies on the Île de la Cité. Near of the famous cathedral there is the Hôtel de Ville – a town house built in the style of Neo-Renaissance and next to the shopping mile Rue de Rivoli. In front of the town hall there was an old carousel, which I had to ride. So that I sat on one of the cute ponys… What I really love in Paris is the nostalgia and that the time seems to stand still. Between all of these renaissance houses they’re lots of modern people but from the outside Paris is still from an old century.
It was an exhausting but wonderful day, my peeps.
Heute war ich auf dem Eiffelturm, der 324 Meter hoch ist und zwischen 1887 und 1889 als Eingangsportal für die Weltausstellung errichtet wurde. Diese wiederum fand anlässlich des 100-jährigen Jubiläums der Französischen Revolution statt.
Es war toll da zu sein und wir hatten großartiges Wetter. Der Ausblick vom Eiffelturm ist sehr beeindruckend gewesen (guckt euch unbedingt das Panorama an!), weil man beinahe die ganze Stadt sehen kann.
Neben dem Eiffelturm haben wir uns auch die Kathedrale Notre Dame angeschaut, die den französischen Autor Victor Hugo zu seinem berühmtesten Roman “Notre Dame de Paris” inspirierte und auf der Île de la Cité liegt. In der Nähe der Kathedrale ist das Hôtel de Ville – ein Rathaus im Neorenaissance-Stil, das neben der Shopping-Meile Rue de Rivoli steht. Vor dem Rathaus stand ein wundervoll altes Karussell, was ich unbedingt fahren musste. Und so setzte ich mich auf eines der Ponys… Was ich an Paris wirklich liebe, ist diese Nostalgie, die es ausstrahlt als ob die Zeit stehen geblieben wäre. Zwischen den ganzen Gebäuden im Renaissance-Stil sind lauter moderne Menschen unterwegs und doch sieht es von außen aus als befände es sich noch immer im alten Jahrhundert.
Es war ein anstrengender, aber schöner Tag, meine Lieben.
